almost done in copenhagen

only a few days left in Copenhagen, i leave on Thursday around noon and get back to Minnesota on friday around noon (i have a strange flight back)

first of all, i have more pictures, these are ones that my host family took

December has been great in Denmark so far. Christmas is everywhere and a lot of fun. I watch 3 Christmas series on tv each night with my family (each one is about 10-20 mins long). Lots of Christmas food and cookies. just an overall good vibe around the city. My host family also bought julekalendar (xmas calendar) scratch off tickets for each of us and you scratch of a piece each day until Christmas.

There has also been a lot of birthdays in December.

We celebrated oliver's birthday a few weekends back. It was a lot of fun, over 30 people came to the house and we ate a big meal and sat around and talked for a while (in true danish style)
sang happy birthday to oliver, etc it was a good time

I went to katharina's (oliver's cousin) birthday party some time after oliver's birthday, it was fun, more sitting around and talking and eating. it was nice to talk to a dane that speaks really good english (she spent time studying in london).

this saturday, i went to a friend of the families birthday party. not much english was spoken but i did meet a guy that worked for microsoft in denmark and he spoke good english

saturday night we celebrated lynsey bernfelds birthday. we meet up at a kollegium a little south of the city and hung out there for a while before heading to a really cool club in norrebro. it was one of the best nights in Copenhagen and a great way to celebrate lynsey's birthday

and on non-bday notes:

i went to the FCK (soccer team) uefu cup game against rosenbaun (norway's best team) and that was great. FCK tied the game in the 84th minute and the stadium went crazy but it ended in a draw

i watched the danish woman's handball team play in the European championship last week on tv and that was a lot of fun. they didn't win which was kind of disappointing. they are really good, when they didn't win gold in Beijing this summer it was like the first time in 3 or 4 olympics.

i went to a less than jake concert at Vega a few backs with lynsey and that was awesome. i hadn't really listened to them much before but they were really good
